چکیده

In our report "Three recessive loci required for insulin-dependent diabetes in nonobese diabetic mice" (1), we outcrossed diabetes-susceptible strain NOD mice with diabetes-resistant strain NON, backcrossed the resistant F1 hybrids to the susceptible NOD parental strain, and analyzed segregation of diabetogenic genes. We reported that 1 of 19 mice developing diabetes at first backcross apparently exhibited recombination within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) on chromosome 17. Microcytotoxicity testing of splenic leukocytes with monoclonal antibodies and complement indicated homozygosity for the H-2Kd allele (NOD type), but expression of I-Ek (NON type). Since a recessive diabetogenic allele (Idd-lS) tightly linked to MHC was

Decrease of Serum Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor, along with its Ocular Level, after the Periocular Injection of Celecoxib and Propranolol in Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Mouse Model

Background: There is a direct correlation between ocular vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) level and progression of pathological outcomes in diabetic retinopathy. In our previous study, the periocular administration of propranolol and celecoxib could significantly reduce ocular VEGF levels in a diabetic mouse model. Here, we investigated the changes of serum VEGF after ...

Examination of the immunohistochemical localization and gene expression by RT-PCR of the oxytocin receptor in diabetic and non-diabetic mouse testis

Objective(s): The aim of this study was to determine Oxytocin receptor (OTR) gene expression and localization in diabetic and non-diabetic mouse testes by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry, respectively. Materials and Methods: In this study, 18 male BALB/c mice (8–12 weeks old) were used and divided into three groups: diabetic, sham, and control. Streptozotocin (STZ) was applied to the diabetic g...

بررسی اثر مهاری سلول‌های بنیادی مزانشیمی بافت چربی بر روی تکثیر سلول‌های تک هسته‌ای طحالی موش دیابتی C57BL/6 در محیط آزمایشگاه

Background: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a T-cell mediated autoimmune disorder in which pancreas beta-cell destruction causes insulin deficiency and hyperglycemia. In addition to daily insulin treatment, allogeneic islet transplant inT1D is another therapeutic way that needs immunosuppressive drugs to control autoimmune damage and graft rejection. Since life-long application of these drugs is ...

Long-term survival of donor-specific pancreatic islet xenografts in fully xenogeneic chimeras (WF rat----B10 mouse).

We recently reported that reconstitution of lethally irradiated B10 mouse recipients with 40 x 10(6) untreated WF rat bone marrow cells resulted in stable fully xenogeneic chimerism (WF rat----B10 mouse). In these animals, the tolerance induced for skin xenografts was highly MHC specific in that donor-specific WF rat skin grafts were significantly prolonged while MHC-disparate third-party xenog...

Discrimination of human T-lymphotropic virus type-I and type-II infections by synthetic peptides representing structural epitopes from the envelope glycoproteins.

Synthetic peptides representing the immunodominant structural motifs of the envelope region of human T-lymphotropic virus types I (HTLV-I) (Env-1(191-214) and Env-5(242-257)) and II (HTLV-II) (Env-20(85-102 and Env-2(187-209)) were used to develop an enzyme immunoassay that could discriminate between HTLV-I and HTLV-II. Serum specimens from individuals whose infections were confirmed and typed ...
